Dyslexia Grants to Preparation Programs

Pursuant to Assembly Bill 128 (Ch. 21, Stats. 2021), Dyslexia Grants to Preparation Program (Dyslexia Grants) are available on a one-time basis in order to provide competitive awards of up to a maximum of $21,000 for Commission-approved institutions of higher education (IHEs) or local education agencies (LEAs) with Commission-approved preliminary teacher preparation programs to update program curriculum and course offerings to align with the common trunk Teacher Performance Expectation (TPEs), new Education Specialist TPEs, and include pedagogy on dyslexia for both general and special education programs. 

Each eligible institution may apply for $7,000 per preliminary Education Specialist, Multiple Subject, and/or Single Subject teacher preparation program for a maximum grant award of $21,000 per institution.

Commission Agenda Item 3G - February 2022
The Educator Preparation Committee presented item 3G at the February 2022 Commission Meeting. This agenda item presented an update on and timelines for the release of Request for Applications (RFAs) for the four 2021-22 state-funded grant programs: 1) Teacher Residency Programs (Capacity, Expansion, and Implementation), 2) Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Grant Program, 3) Computer Science Supplementary Authorization Incentive Grant, and 4) Dyslexia Grants to Teacher Preparation Programs.
