PRECONDITION REQUIRED EVIDENCE
1. Prerequisite Credentials
The program for the Special Class Authorization must require that each candidate hold both:
(a) a current Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language and Speech or an earlier California credential that authorizes the provision of itinerant speech and language services in the public schools, and
(b) The program for the Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential with a Special Class Authorization must require that all candidates fulfill the Preliminary core requirements for the Education Specialist Credentials.

This must include clear language listing the required Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language and Speech or an earlier California credential that authorizes the provision of itinerant speech and language services in the public schools and that candidates fulfill the Preliminary core requirements for the Education Specialist Credentials. 

2. Verification of Experience 
The program for the Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language and Speech with a Special Class Authorization must require that all candidates complete a minimum of 100 hours of teaching in a class for students with speech and language impairments under the supervision of a master teacher with the Special Class Authorization or its equivalent.

  • A brief description of the process the program uses to verify, prior to recommendation of a candidate for a credential, that the candidate has completed experience teaching in a class for students with speech and language impairments as described.
