  • The California state budget signed by the Governor in July 2022 includes $15 million from the General Fund for the Reading and Literacy Supplementary Authorization Incentive Grant Program. A one-time grant award of up to $2,500 per participating teacher are available to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) interested in securing grant funding to support credentialed teachers in adding a Reading and Literacy Added Authorization (RLAA) or a Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist (RLLS) credential through a Commission-approved program. This funding shall be available for encumbrance until June 20, 2027.

Reading and Literacy Grant Program

  • Commission Approved Programs: To support Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) interested in applying to the Reading and Literacy Supplementary Authorization Incentive Grant, the Commission's grant team solicited information from institutions of higher education (IHEs) that have Commission-approved RLAA and/or RLLS programs.
    • Note that any IHEs that would like to include their information on this list may still fill out the survey that was emailed to the institutional contact or contact ReadLitGrant@ctc.ca.gov.
