Category II: The Nature of Induction
Program Standard 4D: Assessment

Assessment of candidate knowledge and skills is conducted throughout the two-year process. An initial assessment is the first activity in the induction program, using multiple measures of assessment to form a baseline profile of the new administrator. Formative assessment occurs throughout the program, through self-reflection, coaching activities, and individual professional development. A benchmark assessment, at the mid-point of a candidate's experience, allows the candidate, coach and program to track progress toward completion, identifying any additional support that might be needed. A summative assessment occurs at the end of the two-year induction program, verifying that the candidate has demonstrated sufficient competency skills for a clear credential recommendation.
