The Commission on Teacher Credentialing has appointed Darrell Woo as the new School Board Representative on the Commission’s Committee of Credentials.

Coded Correspondence 17-06: Update on Ryan Teaching Credential Sunset

A school district, county office of education, or charter school may apply for funding to recruit classified school employees to participate in a program designed to support their completion both of an undergraduate degree and a Commission-approved teacher preparation program so that they can become qualified to provide instructional service as credentialed teachers in the public schools. Proposals are due by 5 pm September 29, 2017.

Governor Brown has signed AB 872, a bill sponsored by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, which strengthens the Commission’s authority to safeguard students. This bill links the Education code to the Sex Offender Registration Act, ensuring that the Commission will continue to have up-to-date authority to protect students in the future.
