    The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is announcing the availability of competitive grant funding for eligible Local Education Agencies to apply for funding for Local Solutions to the shortage of special education teachers. This Advisory provides background information on the authorizing statute, local solutions, and the upcoming grant competition.

    The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is announcing the availability of competitive grant funding for eligible Local Education Agencies to apply for funding to prepare special education residents ($50 million), STEM and/or Bilingual residents ($25 million). This Advisory provides background information on the authorizing statute, teacher residencies, and the upcoming grant competitions.

    Applications for Educator Preparation Student Liaison to the Commission Now Being Accepted

    The Commission’s Policy Manual provides for the appointment of a student enrolled in an educator preparation program to represent the views and experiences of students as a liaison to the Commission. The student liaison appointment will be made by the Commission's Executive Committee at the September 27-28, 2018 Commission meeting. Interested parties must complete the application form and send it, with all additional requested documentation, to the attention of the Executive Office at the address provided on the form.  Deans and Directors of California educator preparation programs are encouraged to share this information with students enrolled in preparation programs. Applications must be postmarked by August 10, 2018.

    Teacher Supply in California - A Report to the Legislature. Annual Report 2016-2017

    AB 471 requires that the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing report to the Governor and the Legislature each year on the number of teachers who received credentials, certificates, permits and waivers. This report provides data collected by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Commission) and addresses several questions regarding the supply of teachers newly available to teach in California classrooms.
