AB 471 requires that the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing report to the Governor and the Legislature each year on the number of teachers who received credentials, certificates, permits and waivers. This report provides data collected by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Commission) and addresses several questions regarding the supply of teachers newly available to teach in California classrooms.

On March 7, 2019 Commission staff hosted a live webinar presentation and question and answer session with University of Southern California Professor John Pascarella, Ph.D. The focus of the webinar was on redesigning teacher preparation programs with an integrative approach, rather than a siloed approach, to the curriculum that addresses the latest Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs).

Teacher Residency Grants: Announcement of Awards
The Commission is pleased to announce its intent to fund 33 Local Education Agencies (LEAs) for the Teacher Residency Grants. This funding will support LEAs to develop or expand a teacher residency pathway with an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) that has a Commission-approved teacher preparation program to prepare special education, STEM, and/or bilingual residents. Funding letters will be sent to grant recipients by early March 2019.
