AB 471 requires that the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing report to the Governor and the Legislature each year on the number of teachers who received credentials, certificates, permits and waivers. This report provides data collected by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Commission) and addresses several questions regarding the supply of teachers newly available to teach in California classrooms.

Extended Dates: Request for Proposals (RFP): Evaluation of the California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program
A single contract award of $250,000 is available for an independent evaluator to conduct an evaluation to determine the success of the California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program (Classified Program). Eligible applicants are Local Education Agencies, including California Community Colleges, with a proven record of experience in assessing teacher training programs. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is now available, and proposals must be received at the Commission office by 5:00 PM PDT, on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

EXTENDED DATE: Request for Proposals (RFP): California Community College (CCC) Teacher Credentialing Partnership Pilot Program Grants
Senate Bill 577 specified that the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, in coordination with the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges, may award up to three grants, not to exceed five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) each, to collaboratives formed for the purpose of offering teacher credential coursework remotely in areas of the state with low rates of K-12 credentialed public school teachers, at a participating community college or colleges. For the purposes of this grant, a collaborative shall be comprised of at least one community college, at least one accredited degree-granting institution of higher education with a Commission-approved teacher preparation program and a physical presence in California, and one or more Local Education Agencies that have difficulties recruiting and retaining qualified teachers. The Request for Proposals (RFP) for this grant opportunity is now available, and proposals must be received by the Commission by 5:00 PM PDT, on Monday, July 13, 2020.

NEW EXTENDED DATE: Request for Proposals (RFP): Teacher Residency Grants for Preparation of Education Specialist Candidates
Funds remain in the Teacher Recruitment, Retention, and Support Grant Programs, allocated in the 2018 Budget-Ed Code § 44415, for new or expanded Teacher Residency Programs. The original funding provided $50 million for Special Education Teacher Residency Programs and $25 million for STEM or Bilingual Teacher Residency Programs. The funds for STEM/Bilingual Residency programs have been allocated to the current residency programs but there is additional funding for new or expanded Teacher Residency Programs in Special Education Teacher Preparation. The Request for Proposals (RFP) is now available, and proposals must be received by the Commission by 5:00 PM PDT, on Monday, June 1, 2020. The applying LEA must have a strong collaboration with a student teaching based Special Education teacher preparation program approved by the Commission.

Additionally, the data are provided via data dashboards with an option to download in excel (see Data and Resources section below each survey page). A PDF of the statewide survey results will no longer be posted on the webpage.

CIA 20-02 and CIA 20-03: CTC Online Enhancements
Credential Information Alert (CIA) 20-02 entitled Career Technical Education Credentials on CTC Online and CIA 20-03 entitled Limited Assignment Permits on CTC Online are now available for view online in the Credential Information Guide (CIG). These CIAs feature information on recent enhancements implemented to the CTC Online system that will allow the submission of CTE Credential and Limited Assignment Permit applications using the CTC Online recommendation process.
