The modifications are to the proposed amendments to 5 California Code of Regulations (CCR) §80037 to establish a Special Teaching Authorization in Physical Education for holders of Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credentials in Basic Military Drill (BMD) and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). The proposed amendments also include general clean-up of outdated language in the existing regulation.

Coded Correspondence 16-07: Approved Amendments and Deletions to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations Pertaining to the Reading and Literacy Added Authorization and Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential is now available.

Coded Correspondence 16-06: Approved Amendments to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations Pertaining to Adding a New Teaching or Content Area to an Existing General Education Teaching Credential is now available.

The purpose of this Coded Correspondence is to highlight the new requirements for the support and supervision of intern teachers that are specified in Title 5 California Code of Regulations section 80033 and to support employers and Commission-approved Intern programs in developing a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the support and supervision of each intern.

As lead agency for a collaborative partnership of public and private institutions of higher education, the Commission has been awarded a $200,000 competitive national grant through the newly created national CEEDAR Technical Assistance Center.
