This item discusses the implications of SB 5 for Preliminary Multiple and Single Subject teacher preparation programs. In addition, this item provides information on the requirements related to undergraduate and blended teacher preparation in California.


Closed Session

The Commission will go into Closed Session pursuant to California Government Code section 11126(e) to consider the following pending litigation matters: Carroll v. Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Sacramento Superior Court, 2012-00135527-CU-OE); complaint investigation by the US Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights.  The Commission will go into Closed Session pursuant to California Education Code sections 44245 and 44248 to consider adverse actions, petitions for reinstatement and requests for reconsideration in discipline cases.  The Commission will report out of Closed Session appropriately concerning any and all actions taken or determinations made therein.

1H: Proposed Amendments to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations Pertaining to Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credentials
This agenda proposes amendments to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations §80037 to establish a Special Teaching Authorization in Physical Education for holders of Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credentials in Basic Military Drill and Reserve Officer Training Corps. The proposed amendments also include general clean-up of outdated language in the existing regulation.

6F: Annual Report on Passing Rates of Commission-Approved Examinations from 2008-2009 to 2012-2013
This agenda item reports the passing rates of Commission-approved examinations.  For each examination, the purpose of the examination, its structure, the scoring process, the examination volume, the first-time passing rate, and the cumulative passing rate are discussed.  When available, the passing rate by demographic data is also discussed.
