Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr., has reappointed Commissioners Casallas, Cooney, Darling-Hammond, Harris and Ramirez to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond, internationally recognized education expert, and veteran teacher Kathleen Harris will continue as Chair and Vice Chair of the Commission on Teacher Credentialing in 2014. The two were reelected at the Commission's December 13, 2013 meeting and will serve through December 2014.

Addendum #2 for 15RFO002 for Consultant for Accreditation Data System for the Streamline and Strengthen the Accreditation Process (SSAP) Project has been posted. All key action dates remain the same.

Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond, Chair, Commission on Teacher Credentialing, takes stock of the new landscape for education in California and sets a resolution for the Commission in 2014.

In academic year 2012-13, more than 2,600 intern credentials were issued, while a decade ago, more than 7,000 credentials were issued. There has been a dramatic decrease in the number of intern credentials issued in the past several years. In spite of the decrease in the number of intern credentials, 956 out of 1100 districts and county offices currently employ teachers on intern credentials.

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing has one School Board member vacancy on the Committee of Credentials (Committee). The Committee reviews allegations of misconduct against educators. Applications are due by June 1, 2014.
