    June 2015 Statistic: Number of Approved Educator Preparation Programs, 2010-2014

    To be eligible to offer educator preparation programs, institutions (colleges, universities, school districts, county offices of education or other entities)  must qualify for Initial Institutional Approval and then must submit a proposal demonstrating how each proposed educator preparation program meets the applicable Commission program standards. The Committee on Accreditation (COA) approves the program once the standards are found to be met.

    May 2015 Statistic: California Teachers Prepared in Other Countries

    In fiscal year 2013-14, about 240 initial teaching credentials were issued to teachers who were prepared in other countries. Another 340 teaching credentials were renewed during the same fiscal year.

    Ongoing Application for Vacancies on the Committee of Credentials

    A member of the Committee of Credentials attends 3-day meetings in Sacramento each month, to review allegations of misconduct and unfitness for which an application for a credential may be denied, or an adverse action (private admonishment, public reproval, suspended or revoked) taken against an educator.

    April 2015 Statistic: Career Technical Education Teaching Credentials Issued

    The Preliminary Designated Subjects Career Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach within the industry sectors named on the credential in grades twelve and below and in classes organized primarily for adults, in career technical, trade or vocational courses.

    March 2015 Statistic: Age Distribution of New Credential Holders in 2013-14

    In 2013-14, nearly 33,000 individuals received new credentials or permits in one of the following areas: K-12 teaching (Multiple Subjects, Single Subject, Education Specialist, Designated Subjects); services (Administrative, Pupil Personnel Services (PPS), Speech-Language-Pathology (SLP), School Nurse, Teacher Librarian) or in Child Development (CD) (Assistant Permit, Associate Permit, Teacher Permit, Master Teacher Permit, Site Supervisor, Program Director).

    Credential Information Alert (CIA) 19-04

    CIA 19-04: Provisional Internship Permit and Short-Term Staff Permit Update onCTC Online is now available for view in the CIG. The purpose of this CIA is to inform  California public school employing agencies that Provisional Internship Permits (PIP) and Short-Term Staff Permits (STSP) are now available to be submitted through CTC Online. The CIA provides directions on setting up access and submission of documentation using the new checklist Form CL-866, Provisional Internship Permit (PIP) and Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP) Checklist.
