    Commission's Accrediting Committee Re-elects Co-Chairs for 2014-15

    The Commission on Teacher Credentialing's Committee on Accreditation (COA) has re-elected two experienced California educators to lead the COA in 2014-15: Kenneth Lopour, representing the K-12 community; and Reyes L. Quezada, Ed.D, representing the higher education community.

    In 2012-2013, about 20,000 teacher candidates were enrolled in California's teacher preparation programs to pursue their initial teaching credentials.

    In 2012-13, approximately 8,000 initial Single Subject Teaching Credentials were issued.

    October 2014 Statistic: Program Completers by Undergraduate Academic Major and Preparation Route, 2012-2013

    In 2012-2013, about 11,000 program completers finished all their teacher preparation program requirements.

    Commission Welcomes New Members at October 8-10 Meeting

    Kathryn Williams Browne and Edgar Orejel will join the Commission on Teacher Credentialing as its two newest members. The two represent the community colleges and educator preparation students, respectively.

    November 2014 Statistic: Program Completers by Subject Matter Areas and Preparation Route, 2012-2013

    In academic year 2012-2013, about 11,000 program completers completed the requirements for obtaining initial teaching credentials. About 9,500 program completers came through the Traditional route and 1,500 came through the Alternative route (University Intern or District intern programs).

    Commission on Teacher Credentialing 2015-16 Budget

    On June 24th, the Governor signed the 2015-16 Budget Act, which included language increasing the Commission on Teacher Credentialing's application fee from $70 to $100. This fee increase will become effective on July 1, 2015 and applies to both new and renewed/reissued applications.
