The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

For each five-year renewal of this credential, the holder must complete 75 clock hours of planned and approved professional growth activities and two years of work experience, other than teaching, directly related to the subject listed, as specified in The California Professional Growth Manual.
