Data Definitions

The descriptions below are intended to clarify terms used within the Educator Assignment Monitoring Dashboards.

Types of Misassignments

Misassignment TypeDescription
MisassignedThe misassignment was identified during assignment monitoring in CalSAAS, and the misassignment was not corrected during the school year.
Corrected MAThe misassignment was identified by the local educational agency (LEA) or its monitoring authority prior to monitoring in CalSAAS, and was corrected either prior to the commencement of the monitoring cycle or prior to the school year ending (whichever event occurred first). This type of misassignment is designed to highlight instances in which the LEA proactively reviewed certificated educator assignments outside of the monitoring cycle and took necessary steps to correct the misassignment prior to the system bringing it to their attention. Correction methods may include the individual earning an emergency permit to authorize the assignment, placing the individual on an appropriate Local Assignment Options, or removal of the individual from the assignment.
2019-20 CharterPursuant to Education Code 44258.10, monitoring authorities were not required to correct misassignments of educators in specific assignments who were already employed during the 2019-20 school year. This flexibility ended July 1, 2025.
VacanciesAssignments identified within the system as not having a certificated employee permanently assigned on census date.
