The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

However, the holder will be eligible for the emergency permit which authorizes this service if he or she satisfies the Basic Skills Requirement and applies prior to the expiration date of this document. The holder must also contact a college or university for an evaluation for the teaching credential which is a prerequisite for clear credentials of this type and must apply for the emergency permit through the employing district, county, or agency.
