The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.
Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

With the submission of an application and fee as specified above, the holder of this Certificate of Eligibility will receive a two-year Preliminary Level I Credential. To qualify for the three-year extension of that document, the holder must complete the following requirements:#E;#N;#S;#L;#I;#U. If the holder completes the listed requirements before applying for the preliminary credential, he or she may convert this Certificate of Eligibility to a Preliminary Level I Education Specialist Credential valid for a full five years with verification of employment in California.
