The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

  • The holder will be eligible for an Emergency Education Specialist Instruction Permit upon completion of the requirements explained above. He or she must apply for the permit through the employing disrict, county, or agency. To qualify for the Preliminary Level I Education Specialist Credential which authorizes this service, the holder will need to complete the following requirements:#E;#N;#S;#L;#I;#U. In addition, when applying for the Preliminary Level I Credential the holder will need to submit a Verification of Employment as a Special Educator including information about his or her individualized preparation program plan to be developed collaboratively with the college or university and the employer.
