Renewal Codes

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

• For credentials issued through the early part of 2005 [PDF]

The holder will be eligible for an emergency specialist credential upon completion of the requirements explained in the statement above. He or she must contact a college or university for an evaluation for both the clear specialist credential which authorizes this service and the teaching credential which is a prerequisite, and must apply through the employing district, county, or agency.
