The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

To renew this one-year credential, the holder needs to submit only an application and fee to the Commission prior to the expiration date. The renewed credential will be valid for two years. Before the end of that two-year period the holder must complete the following requirements:#R;#I;#U;#E. The credential may then be renewed for the remainder of the five-year preliminary time period provided by law. Before the end of the five-year preliminary time period, the holder must also complete the following requirements:#F;#Y;#H;#M;#C. When all requirements have been completed, the holder will be eligible for the clear credential.
