Renewal Codes

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

To renew this initial issuance of the Emergency Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Permit, the holder must: (1) attend an orientation provided by the employing agency covering curriculum for the assignment, classroom instruction, and classroom management; (2) obtain an evaluation by a Commission-accredited professional preparation institution identifying the requirements he or she must complete to be eligible for the related credential; (3) complete EITHER (a) six semester units or nine quarter units of approved course work in a Commission-accredited professional preparation program that are required for the issuance of the Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential; or (b) a minimum of ninety hours of professional development activities that are directly related to the subject or class authorized by this emergency, provided the holder's employing agency has a Commission-approved Plan to Develop Fully Qualified Educators; (4) be assigned an experienced educator by the employing agency who will provide guidance and assistance; and (5) apply for reissuance through his or her employing agency.
