The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

To renew this emergency permit, the holder must verify admission to a college or university that has a Commission-approved program for the prerequisite Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential and must complete a minimum of six semester hours of course work approved by the college or university as applicable toward that credential. One time only, in lieu of course work, the applicant may complete the assessment for the Resource Specialist Certificate through an agency that has a Commission-approved program. The holder must apply for renewal of the permit through the employing agency, which must verify that the holder has been provided with an experienced educator to guide and assist the holder throughout the term of this permit.
