The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

To renew this emergency permit, the holder must: (1) complete at least six semester units or nine quarter units of approved course work in a Commission-accredited professional preparation program or subject matter program, as required for issuance of the related or prerequisite credential; (2) be assigned to an experienced educator appointed by the employing agency to provide guidance and assistance; and (3) apply for reissuance through his or her employing agency.
