The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

Here are some examples of where the renewal code can be found on your credential if it was issued prior to September 1, 2008:

To renew this emergency permit, the holder must maintain his or her valid non-emergency teaching credential, must complete a minimum of six semester hours of course work applicable toward the credential which authorizes this service, and must apply through the employing agency, after receiving approval for the assignment by the local governing board. In lieu of six semester hours of course work, the holder who verifies three years of previous teaching experience on a non-emergency credential may complete ninety hours of professional development activities directly related to the subject or class authorized by this permit. Details about the content of those professional development activities must accompany the application for renewal.
