The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues various types of credentials, certificates, and permits. Many of these documents require renewal on a regular basis. It is the credential holder's responsibility to complete the requirements for the renewal of their document. The renewal code(s) and renewal requirement(s) for each credential, certificate, and permit were printed on the face of the document until September 1, 2008. Since that date, all documents issued by the Commission are available only in a view and print format, available on the Commission's website.

To renew this postponed permit for an additional two-year period, the holder must verify the successful completion of four semester hours of course work in early childhood education and one year of experience as a teacher or supervisor in a child development program completed during the valid period of this permit. A year of experience is paid or volunteer service in a child development program for not less than two hours per day, for at least one hundred days during not more than three school years. To receive the clear permit, the holder must verify possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in early childhood education or child development (or eighteen semester hours of course work in early childhood education or child development), plus six semester hours of course work covering administration and supervision of a child development program.
