Upgrading an Administrative Services Credential
- Two years of successful experience in a full-time administrative position in a public school or a private school of equivalent status;
- Complete a Commission approved Clear Administrative Services credential program; AND
- Maintain your valid prerequisite credential. Note that you may submit an application to request the remainder of time on your Preliminary Administrative Services credential once you have renewed your prerequisite credential.

Upgrading a Speech-Language Pathologist Services Credential
RC - Complete the California Basic Skills Requirement. You must provide the passing Basic Skills Exam score report within the first year of issuance of your document to a public school employer to remain eligible for employment. The report would not need to be submitted to the Commission until you have completed all your renewal requirements and are ready to upgrade to the clear credential. Additional information on clearing this requirement can be found in Leaflet CL-667.
SLPT - Obtain a passing score on the Educational Testing Services Praxis II Speech-Language Pathology Test.
36EX - Complete of a 36-week, full-time, mentored clinical experience or equivalent supervised practicum.
Note: A photocopy of license issued by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board OR an original Verification of Certification letter from ASHA that the individual holds a valid ASHA Certificate of Competence (CCC) including issuance and expiration dates and account number will clear both the SLPT and 36EX requirements.
