Professional Service Requirement

The Professional Service Requirement refers to successful service in a certificated position or in another professional capacity rendered in subjects commonly taught in public schools for the equivalent of at least one-half of a school year during the five-year credential renewal cycle. Professional service was required to meet the professional growth requirement for credential renewal. With the implementation of Senate Bill 1209, signed by Governor Schwarzenegger September 28, 2006, professional growth requirements are no longer a prerequisite to renew clear teaching and services credentials.
