  • Professional Growth

  • The term “professional growth” refers to activities that contribute to a holder's competence, performance or effectiveness in the profession of education. Professional growth was a requirement for renewal of a professional clear teaching or services credential issued after August 31, 1985. With the implementation of Senate Bill 1209, signed by Governor Schwarzenegger September 28, 2006, professional growth requirements are no longer a prerequisite to renew clear credentials. Professional growth requirements must still be completed by individuals renewing Child Development Permits.

When a Child Development Permit holder participates in activities that contribute to the holder's competence, performance and effectiveness in the early childhood profession. Such activities may include but are not limited to college or university coursework, conferences, workshops, institutes, academies, symposia, and staff development programs.
