This agenda item provides an overview of the Commission’s budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year, reviews the overall revenue and expenditure projections and presents one-time project expenditures.

5A: Draft Subject Matter Requirements and Draft Teaching Performance Expectations for the New Single Subject Theatre and Dance Credentials
This agenda item presents draft Subject Matter Requirements (SMRs) and draft Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs) for the new Single Subject Theatre and Dance credentials for the Commission’s review and input, and requests Commission direction to move these draft SMRs and TPEs forward for content review by the field.

5B: Annual Report Card on California Teacher Preparation Programs for the Academic Year 2017-18
This agenda item is the Annual Report Card on California Teacher Preparation Programs for the Academic Year 2017-18, as required by Title II of the 2008 Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. It is the nineteenth annual report and includes a description of credentialing requirements to teach in California public schools and qualitative and quantitative information on teacher preparation programs.

5C: Discussion of Potential Addition of New Teaching Performance Expectations for the Development of Literacy and Assessment Considerations
This agenda item presents for discussion new draft Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs) that explicitly address the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the development of literacy, including the teaching of reading, and also presents for discussion options concerning literacy TPEs and assessment.

5D: Review of the Preconditions for Single Subject Matter Programs
This agenda item presents an analysis of the current precondition requirements related to the minimum number of units required in a Commission-approved Single Subject Matter program. This item also presents questions for the Commission to consider related to the Single Subject Matter programs and preconditions and proposes a plan to review the required number of units for each program.
