The Meredith Fellows Implementation Conference (MFIC), held annually by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, provides space for all California-accredited educator preparation programs to come together virtually to learn with and from one another best practices for supporting candidates with both teacher and administrator performance assessments.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Leveraging Data to Improve Practice

The 2025-2026 conference, which will be held Thursday, February 5, and Friday, February 6, 2026, will focus on the theme, "Data-Driven Decision Making: Leveraging Data to Improve Practice." Each performance assessment asks candidates to gather and consider multiple forms of data from and about students to inform their teaching and/or leadership decisions. These data can take myriad forms, including observations, formal and informal assessments, learning plans, and survey responses, to name a few. Similarly, while they are teaching or engaging in leadership activities, candidates are asked to gather additional data that they then analyze, using the results to reflect upon their practices and plan next steps.

Simultaneously, as part of their continuous improvement process, programs are asked to collect and analyze data about their candidates' performance on the performance assessments--both the assessments themselves and program activities that lead to the assessments--and use the results to inform their future practices.

Call for Proposals:

The 2025-2026 MFIC invites programs to submit proposals for sessions that:

Share best practices for supporting candidates to leverage data to inform and/or improve their instructional or leadership practices

  • How does your program:
    • teach candidates about the different types of data they can collect and/or access as teachers/educational leaders?
    • teach candidates to analyze different types of data?
    • teach candidates to use the findings from their analysis to inform their instructional/leadership practices
    • support candidates in using data to reflect on their instructional/leadership practices?
  • Share best practices for leveraging performance assessment data to inform and/or improve program practices
  • How does your program use performance assessment data to inform/improve program practices?
  • What type of data does your program collect related to candidates' performance?
  • How does your program engage multiple stakeholders in the analysis of data?
  • What changes has your program made in recent years to better support candidates as a result of engaging in analysis of data?

The conference also welcomes proposals for sessions that highlight best practices for embedding the performance assessment within coursework and/or clinical practice and supporting the new versions of CalTPA, CalAPA, edTPA, and FAST. Additionally, the conference welcomes proposals that support candidates in developing meaningful commentary about their instruction. For programs that support administrators, the conference welcomes proposals that addressing constructing narrative analysis and guiding candidates through each cycle.
