San Diego County Office of Education

Summary:

The San Diego County Office of Education offers a variety of services available statewide and online to enhance the continuum of teaching and learning. Low cost offerings include:

  • Free examination preparation (CBEST, CSET, CTEL, RICA)
  • Mentor training for supervising teachers and counselor/psychologist mentors
  • Paraeducator training
  • Substitute teacher training
  • Added authorizations in special education
  • Education specialist bridge authorizations 
  • Multi-year facilitation for districts/charters to revise their evaluation systems through Educator Effectiveness and Evaluation

Early Childhood Professional Development

Summary:

Teach Us provides a range of professional development offerings for early childhood educators and those interested in joining this growing field! Choose from a range of modules through our Micro-Basic, Basic, and Essential offerings or earn a full Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential!

Our fully asynchronous courses allow you complete the modules at your own pace. For most courses, you can choose to select from either infant & toddler or preschool learners.

  • Micro-Basic: Our Micro-Basic professional development offerings provide a snapshot of the key topics necessary to know in the field of early childhood. They are great as a refresher course for veteran educators or building background knowledge and context for new educators!

  • Basic: Our Basic courses are ideal for early childhood centers and individual educators needing an orientation on a specific topic or would like to use a course as part of the onboarding process. These typically earn between two to five professional development hours and provide learners with an interactive introduction to various topics.

  • Essential: Our Essential courses take a deeper dive into specialized content, expanding into more depth compared to the Basic courses, earning up to 15 professional development hours per course. These include interactives that check for understanding. You are highly encouraged to complete the related reflective activities to improve your practices.

Teachers Test Prep

Summary:

For over 15 years, Teachers Test Prep has been offering classes and other services to help prospective teachers pass their exams. Our in-person classes are a great option for students who are struggling to prepare for their credentialing exams, are at risk of failing, or just want to get all their prep done in one block. Our classes are taught by experienced instructors, held at central locations, and cover all the essential exam content in one intensive session.

    Summary:

    Teach Us was established in 2021 to help address teacher shortages across the nation by delivering accessible teacher preparation and development programs and a community of support to educators in every stage of their careers.     Madera County Superintendent of Schools Credentialing Programs

    Summary:

    The Madera County Superintendent of Schools Human Resources Division houses four unique programs to serve educators, state-wide, wishing to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to improve teaching and learning, holding high expectations for all students, effectively impacting the field of education through becoming equity-driven teacher and site leaders on their campuses.

    • Bridges to Leadership Preliminary Administrative Services credential program (PASC): The purpose of the Bridges to Leadership-PASC program is to prepare equity-focused instructional leaders who establish and support an inclusive and just school culture that meets the needs of all students; build the capacity of all educational partners; value individual assets and needs.
    • Clear Administrative Services credential program (CASC): In collaboration with the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, the CASC program provides guidance to new administrators going through the process of clearing their Preliminary Administrative Services credential. The program is designed, through mentorship and self-reflection, to provide guidance and insight into the many challenges that administrators face in the school system.
    • California Administrator Performance Assessment (CalAPA) support program for CASC candidates: The CalAPA Support Program is designed to provide those few candidates who took advantage of the PS-waiver and are now in a CASC program, but have not completed one or more of the CalAPA assessment cycles, the opportunity to successfully engage with, submit, and pass the CalAPA.
    • Added Authorizations credential program (AA): The purpose of the AA credential program is to prepare Special Education teachers with the supplemental knowledge and skills to effectively support students in the three specialty areas including Early Childhood Special Education (ECSEAA).

    UTK Leadership Certificate

    Summary:

    New opportunity for future school leaders: Earn a UC Berkeley UTK Leadership Certificate! Open to candidates currently in a Preliminary Administrative Services credential or Clear Administrative Services credential program, or who hold a Certificate of Eligibility.

    As California rolls out its Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) program, 21CSLA is offering future school leaders a new opportunity to develop their skills and leadership capacity.

    The UTK Leadership Certificate is a 4-unit online and synchronous program offered through UC Berkeley Extension (UNEX) and developed by the UC Berkeley-based 21CSLA, in partnership with the California Department of Education, State Board of Education, and California Collaborative for Educational Excellence. Those who complete the two 10-session courses will receive a UC Berkeley UTK Leadership Certificate. Due to funding from the California Department of Education, this program is available at no cost to eligible participants through June 2026.

    • Learn about UTK policy and instructional leadership in California
    • Network and collaborate with other leaders to advance equity
    • Cultivate skills and knowledge to prepare for job searches and interviews

    Professional Learning Center

    Summary:

    Explore professional development opportunities through Teachers College of San Joaquin's Professional Learning Center (PLC)! Seize the opportunity to enhance your education and acquire Professional Development Units without pursuing a formal degree. We offer 40+ opportunities (including RICA and TPA courses), 20+ PLC partners, online/asynchronous options, and the ability to choose the topic(s) of your interest.

    Teacher Advancement Program

    Summary:

    Vanguard University’s Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) offers continuing education and professional development courses that are designed to increase your knowledge and provide units for salary advancement eligibility.
