  • Appeals

  • There are two types of appeals: Commission appeals and staff appeals.

Commission Appeals: Title 5, California Code of Regulations, Sections 80509(a) and 80523.1 allow an applicant to appeal to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the purpose of finding "equivalency" of an individual's full-time teaching experience in lieu of the student teaching component or teacher preparation program. See credential leaflets CL-760GE and CL-760SM for more information.

Staff Appeals: This is a process that allows Commission staff to grant an extension or reissue a credential or permit when an applicant verifies good cause for not completing renewal requirements. See credential leaflet AL-3 for more information.
