Teacher Appreciation Week is recognized from May 4-8, 2026, and California has good news to report on its investments to build a stronger, well-prepared, and diverse educator workforce. The latest teacher supply report shows a 16% year-over-year increase in the number of newly issued Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Education Specialist, and PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialist teaching credentials.

Deadline to Apply for Workgroup to Review the Design and Implementation of Teaching Performance Assessments Has Been Extended

California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is seeking applicants to serve on a workgroup that will meet and make advisory recommendations to the Commission regarding the design and implementation of California’s currently approved Teaching Performance Assessments (TPAs). The workgroup will be comprised of classroom teachers, teacher educators, and professionals who have expertise with TPAs. Application Deadline for Educator Preparation Student Liaison to the Commission has been Extended

The Commission’s Policy Manual provides for the appointment of a student enrolled in an educator preparation program to represent the views and experiences of students as a liaison to the Commission. Interested parties must complete the application form and send it, with all additional requested documentation, to the attention of the Executive Office at the address provided on the form. More information is available via the Commission Website. Deans and Directors of California educator preparation programs are encouraged to share this information with students enrolled in preparation programs. The deadline to submit the application is July 31, 2024.
