Removing Requirements Listed on A Preliminary Teaching Credential

The requirements listed on Preliminary teaching credentials are specific to the holder of the credential, so it is important to check your credential to know what your requirements are. If you have requirements listed on your Preliminary teaching credential which you have completed and wish to remove them, you may upload the documentation showing that you have met your requirements and submit your application.

However, please note that you are not required to remove requirements as you complete them. You have the option to wait until all requirements have been met to apply for your Clear teaching credential. There is a fee to remove requirements, which is the same amount that you would pay for your Clear credential, so you might prefer to wait until you are able to obtain your Clear credential rather than paying just to remove requirements.

Special Note Regarding Induction Requirements (R14I, PRO)

Please note that if you have a teaching credential from another state in the U.S. and two or more years of teaching experience earned in another state in the U.S., you can apply to remove the induction requirement. If you do not have an out-of-state teaching credential and documentation of two years of out-of-state teaching experience, then you must complete induction. After you have completed induction and all other requirements listed on your Preliminary teaching credential, you can provide your induction program with the documentation of satisfying the other requirements and your induction program can recommend you for your Clear credential.
