Webinars for Candidates who are not able to Participate in Supervised Clinical Practice due to COVID-19
The California Alliance for Inclusive Schooling (CAIS), in collaboration with the Orange County Department of Education and with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Thompson Policy Institute on Disability at Chapman University, is offering a statewide webinar series. Each topic is presented at various depth levels for teacher candidates. Mentor teachers, university/college supervisors, and university/college faculty at Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) and Institutions of Higher Education are also welcome to attend and participate. The webinars are designed for candidates in all preliminary teacher preparation programs—Multiple Subject, Single Subject, and Education Specialist candidates. Programs and candidates should note that, at this time, the Commission does not have the authority to waive any statutory examination requirement or any component part of any statutory examination requirement for the credential sought.

The due date for the creation of all Program Reports identifying how your programs are offered locally had been March 31, 2020. The date has been extended to May 15, 2020. Please review the ADS Contact Information and make sure that the contact information is accurate as soon as you are able.

Memorandum to Deans of Education, Directors of Teacher Education and Leaders of Educator Preparation Programs on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Impact on Credential Candidates
The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is closely monitoring the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the anticipated impact of school and university closures on candidates enrolled in educator preparation programs. The Commission is particularly concerned about candidates’ ability to complete clinical practice and performance assessment requirements during this academic year, and is looking for ways to mitigate this situation.
