Number of Fully Credentialed Teachers Increases - Decrease Continues for New Teaching Credentials
The number of fully-credentialed teachers inched up to 98.4 percent (from 98.3% in 2011) of all California public school teachers in 2011-12 according to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing's annual Teacher Supply in California report. Over the last five years, the number of fully-credentialed teachers has increased two percent. 

Marking the eighth consecutive year in which the total number of initial teaching credentials issued has dropped, California saw a 12 percent decrease in the number of newly issued credentials in 2011-12. This decrease is across all three types of preliminary teaching credentials (Multiple Subject, Single Subject and Education Specialist credentials) and represents a nearly 30 percent decline in the past five years in the number of initial and new type teaching credentials issued.

Commission grants Eminence credential in Drama to Nancy Cassaro-Fracchiolla of Off Broadway fame
At its June 13 meeting, the Commission on Teacher Credentialing awarded an Eminence credential to Nancy Cassaro-Fracchiolla, creator of the hit Tony n' Tina's Wedding, the longest running production in Off Broadway history.
