All times are approximate and are provided for convenience only except time specific items identified herein (i.e. Public Hearing). The order of business within each day may be changed without notice. All items may be re-ordered to be heard on any day of the noticed meeting. Persons wishing to address the Commission on Teacher Credentialing on a subject to be considered at this meeting are asked to complete a Request Card and give it to the Recording Secretary prior to the discussion of the item.

General Session

As announced, the Commission meeting will commence at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013. However the Commission will immediately move to Closed Session, to discuss items noticed for Closed Session. It is anticipated that the Commission will return to General Session at approximately 9:45 a.m. In addition, item 3A will begin at 1:00 p.m. on March 7.

This agenda item presents proposed amendments to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations pertaining to adding a teaching or content area to a valid general education teaching credential as directed by the Commission. The proposed amendments also include general clean-up of the regulations section.

This item provides the draft revised Subject Matter Requirements (SMRs) for the CSET: Multiple Subjects, Single Subject English and Single Subject Mathematics examinations in alignment with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to the Commission for initial review.

This agenda item presents information about the development of a pilot survey for candidates being recommended for initial preliminary credentials. 

 

Closed Session

The Commission will go into Closed Session pursuant to California Government Code section 11126(e), to consider the following pending litigation: Carroll v. Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Sacramento Superior Court 34-2012-00135527), a complaint received from Public Advocates, and Garmhausen v. Commission on Teacher Credentialing (San Diego Superior Court 37-2012-00079145-CU-OE-SC). The Commission will also consider adverse actions, petitions for reinstatement and requests for reconsideration in discipline cases while in Closed Session pursuant to California Education Code sections 44245, 44248 and Government Code section 11126(e). The Commission will report out of Closed Session appropriately concerning any and all actions taken or determinations made therein.
