  • General Science (Foundational-Level) Stakeholder Survey This survey is to assess the need for and appropriateness of a General Science (Foundational-Level) credential. A General Science (Foundational-Level) credential would authorize an individual to teach introductory science: life, earth or physical science. In addition, the credential would authorize the teaching of integrated science through grade 8. This credential would not authorize an individual to teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or any course that is on the UC/CSU approved list. It is expected that the majority of individuals who earn this credential would teach in the elementary or middle schools.

The Commission has heard two agenda items addressing the possibility of a General Science credential: December 2007 (Item 3H) [PDF] and April 2008 (Item 2H) [PDF] . Please see these agenda items for more information. The Commission is interested in your opinion of this possible new credential. Survey responses are due by May 20.
