Can a high school student take adult education classes for high school credit?

There are several sections of the Education Code that allow individuals under the age of 18 years to attend classes for adults. How long is the initial preliminary adult or vocational credential issued?

It is issued for five years. However, the credential authorizes service for no more than two years from the issuance date of the credential unless the holder's employer receives form CL-787, Verification of Completion of Level I Requirements, from the Local Education Agency (LEA). Once the holder's employer receives this verification, the credential's validity period will automatically be extended for the remainder of the five-year period from the date of issuance of the credential. There is no need to apply to the Commission for this extension.
