Can I renew online if I have had a conviction?
Yes. During the online renewal process, you must answer all questions on the page titled 'Personal and Professional Fitness'. If you answer "yes" to any of the questions, you must type an explanation in the space provided.
Is there an appeal option for the Associate Teacher Permit if the required 15 semester units were not completed?
Yes. Appeals will only be considered for the Child Development Associate Teacher level for medical reasons for the applicant or his or her immediate family. The extension is for one year. When an appeal is not an option, the applicant must drop down to the Child Development Assistant Permit until the required units have been completed.
I didn't complete my professional growth requirements for renewal. How do I apply for my one-time two-year extension?
The two-year extension cannot be applied for online. The two-year extension requires that the following be submitted to the Commission office:
- A completed renewal application [PDF]
- A written request for the one-time two-year extension
- application processing fee [PDF]
Can I use college course work toward the 105 clock-hours required for renewal of my permit?
Yes. College or university course work can be converted to clock hours by using the chart below.
