Accreditation Reports

Accreditation Reports summarize the Site Visits to institutions/program sponsors offering educator preparation programs. These visits are completed by teams of trained reviewers. Visits take place from Sunday through Wednesday of a week. Team members review documentation and interview candidates, program completers, employers, faculty, administrators and other stakeholders. The review team makes a determination as to whether or not each Common Standard and each Program Standard is met. They also make an accreditation recommendation. The recommendation is made to the Committee on Accreditation (COA) which meets 60-90 days after the site visit and determines the accreditation decision.

There are some institutions that have no current Accreditation Report noted. From December 2002 to June 2007 only joint site visits (Commission and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) were held. All institutions/program sponsors have now been scheduled for a site visit

When the COA determines that an institution/program sponsor is "Accredited with Stipulations", the stipulations are to be addressed by the institution/program sponsor within one year. The COA reviews the evidence submitted and then removes the stipulations once they have all been met.

There are three types of stipulations that can be placed upon an institution/program sponsor or program. They are:

Stipulations: the concerns or problems are of primarily of a technical nature (defined as operational, administrative, or procedural concerns or problems). The institution is determined to have overall quality and effectiveness in its credential programs and general operations apart from the identified technical matters.

Major Stipulations: the concerns or problems are significant deficiencies in Common Standards or Program Standards, or areas of concern that are tied to matters of curriculum, field experience, or candidate competence. The team may identify other issues that impinge on the ability of the institution to deliver programs of quality and effectiveness.

Probationary Stipulations: the concerns or problems are preventing the institution from delivering programs of quality and effectiveness. The institution may be determined to have quality and effectiveness in some of its credential programs and general operations but these areas of quality do not outweigh the identified areas of concern.
