Welcome to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing

The purpose of the Commission is to inspire, educate and protect the students of California. The Commission envisions all of California's diverse learners, preschool through grade 12, will be inspired and prepared to achieve their highest potential by a well-prepared and exceptionally qualified educator workforce.

    The Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues three different types of Substitute Permits: the Emergency 30-day Substitute Teaching Permit, the Emergency Career Substitute Permit, and the Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers.

    The Commission on Teacher Credentialing's Quick Facts 2013-14 document is now available.

  • 2014 PTTP Report
    Commissioners approved the 2014 PTTP Report to the Legislature during the December 11-12, 2014 Commission meeting. Funding for the PTTP is now folded into the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The 2014 report includes a description of changes to the PTTP and program funding as a result of passage of LCFF legislation.
