RFP for RICA Test Development [MS Word]
The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is inviting qualified vendors to provide various aspects of test development for the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA), as noted in the Request for Proposal (RFP). The RFP also lists the term of the contract. The responses to the RFP must be submitted to the Commission by 10 a.m., Pacific Time, on June 23, 2008.

SACRAMENTO - The number of newly credentialed special education teachers increased by 8.5% in 2007. Additionally, out-of-state-trained teachers becoming credentialed in California increased by 15.9%, although California saw a nearly 7% decrease in the overall number of newly credentialed teachers, according to a report by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

RIVERSIDE -- The Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Commission) has chosen three exemplary educators to join their veteran colleagues on the Committee on Accreditation (COA): Joseph M. Jimenez, Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Induction Cluster Region Director for the Tulare County Office of Education; Reyes Quezada, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Education at the University of San Diego; and Gary Kinsey, Ed.D., Associate Dean, College of Education at Cal Poly Pomona University. The decisions were made at the Commission's April 11, 2008 meeting in Riverside. The COA is a statutory committee appointed by the Commission and charged with deciding the initial and continuing accreditation of educator preparation.

SACRAMENTO - As California continues to address critical shortages of fully credentialed mathematics teachers, the recent action of the Commission on Teacher Credentialing adds to the number of available subject matter preparation programs in mathematics. Prospective teachers of mathematics now have three additional options available for completing their subject matter competency requirement.
