Out-of-State Applicants
A California credential is required for employment in California public schools. Below you will find the most common types of certification available to those who have completed out-of-state preparation programs and have been issued or are eligible for certification in another state. Elementary Teaching (Multiple Subject)
Authorizes teaching in self-contained settings in grades K-12 including preschool and adults

Secondary Teaching (Single Subject)
Authorizes teaching in departmentalized settings in grades K-12 including preschool and adults

Special Education
Authorizes teaching in a variety of disability areas, including resource specialist

Administrative Services
Authorizes service as principals, vice principals, superintendents, etc.

Pupil Personnel Services
Authorizes school counseling, school social work, school psychology, and school child welfare and attendance

Clinical or Rehabilitative Services
Credentials that authorize service in language, speech and hearing, audiology, and orientation and mobility
