Examining the First Four Years of Williams Implementation
•
Presentation

The Williams v. California settlement legislation was enacted just over four years ago with the intent of establishing "a floor, rather than a ceiling, and a beginning, not an end, to the State of California’s commitment and effort to ensure that all California school pupils have access to the basic elements of a quality public education." Brooks Allen, the ACLU's statewide Williams implementation attorney, will discuss the impact of the settlement legislation, as well as the evolution of the Williams standards and accountability systems.
