The Commission may also appoint individuals to serve as alternates in case of vacancy.   Information Strategic Plan Development √ Listen 2I The Commission will be provided with an update on the strategic plan stakeholder meetings and will discuss possible changes to the Commission's vision statement.   Action Teacher Supply in California 2005-2006, A Report to the Legislature    • Agenda Item 2J -- Insert √ Listen 2J This agenda item is in response to Assembly Bill (AB) 471 (Chap. 381, Stats. 1999), which requires the Commission report to the Governor and the Legislature each year on the number of teachers who received credentials, certificates, permits and waivers to teach in California public schools.   Credentialing and Certificated Assignments Committee Caleb Cheung, Committee Chair Action Request for Consideration of Eminence Credential √ Listen 3A The Governing Board of High Tech Middle Media Arts, a Charter School in San Diego County, by resolution adopted on June 15, 2006, in accordance with Education Code Section 44262, recommends to the Commission the issuance of a credential based on Eminence to Linda Libby in the subject of Drama and Theatre Arts.   Fiscal Policy and Planning Committee Guillermo Gomez, Committee Chair Information Update on the Proposed 2007-08 Governor's Budget √ Listen 4A Staff will present an update on the Proposed 2007-08 Governor's Budget related to California Commission on Teacher Credentialing   Action Approval of Agreements Over $100,000 for Fiscal Year 2006-07 Revised 4-27-2007 √ Listen 4B Section 610 of the Commission Policy Manual (Contract Authority) requires that agreements or contracts of $100,000 or more be approved by the Commission. This item presents agreements that require approval.   Legislative Committee Margaret Gaston, Acting Committee Chair Action Status of Legislation √ Listen 5A This agenda item provides the status of legislative measures on which the Commission has adopted a position.   Action Analyses of Bills    • Agenda Item 5B -- Insert √ Listen 5B This agenda item presents analyses of educator preparation or licensing legislation. The analyses will summarize current law, describe the bills' provisions, estimate their costs, and recommend amendments, if applicable.   Information Other Legislative and Policy Items √ Listen 5C This agenda item is an update on the activities of the Legislature and information about bills that do not directly affect Commission operation or policy, but may be of interest.   Professional Services Committee Paula Cordeiro, Committee Chair Action Draft Report on the Public Study Session Required by SB 1209 (Chap. 517, Stats. 2006) on Implications of Incorporating the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA) within the Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) √ Listen 6A Staff will present the draft report summarizing the implications of combining these two assessments, including the summary of public input received during the Study Session held by the Commission at the February 2007 meeting as required by SB 1209 (Chap. 517, Stats. 2006).   Action Program Approval and Initial Accreditation √ Listen 6B This agenda report presents recommendations for approval of program proposals submitted by local education agencies and institutions of higher education for single subject matter preparation programs and induction programs.   Information Update on the Career Technical Education Advisory Panel √ Listen 6C Staff will present a report on the selection composition and first meeting of the Career Technical Education Advisory Panel. In addition, the Commission will be provided with background about the current vocational credential system.   Closed Session The Commission will go into Closed Session pursuant to California Government Code Section 11126 as well as California Education Code Sections 44245 and 44248. This item provides information on the policy issues related to preliminary teacher preparation under the SB 2042 reform.
